In what ways does this media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I believe that the music magazine I created uses conventions of real media products, in the form of music magazines, throughout the front cover, contents page and the double page spread.

In the stages of research and planning I found that recurring conventions on the front covers of music magazines are: a masthead, a puff, a main image, additional images, main cover line(s), additional cover lines, a bar code, an issue date, a running colour scheme.
On the front cover of the music magazine I created I included the conventions that are in bold.

The front cover can be seen to challenge forms and conventions of real music magazines as the magazine is also tied in with fashion so some of the conventions of fashion magazine front covers can be seen in the front cover that I created but as the genre of my music magazine was mainstream music I believe the layout suited this genre.

I also found in the stages of research and planning that recurring conventions of the contents pages of music magazines are: a main image, additional images, page numbers, main features, and features that are in every issue. I believe that on the contents page of the music magazine I created I included all of these conventions.

In the stages of research and planning I also found that recurring conventions on the double page spreads inside music magazines were: a main image of the artist, additional images, an introduction, a masthead, page numbers, and the text. I believe in the double page spread that I created I included all of these conventions.
